The research project Mapa Escolar de Valencia (School Map of Valencia) was born out of an agreement between the City Council and the University of Valencia in order to carry out an investigation of the compulsory education system of the city and propose, if necessary, modifications to the current school zoning. The project is structured in several research areas. La inmigración reciente ha transformado de forma radical la estructura demográfica de numerosos sectores de los centros históricos de las ciudades, casi siempre los más degradados, pero también algunos en proceso de rehabilitación. Este artículo analiza los cambios producidos en menos de cuatro años –los que van del último Censo al Padrón de 2005– en las secciones censales con mayor porcentaje de extranjeros en 2001. The relevance of psychosocial maps in the study of urban districts

Abstract This pilot study proposes a social map-making method based on the link between the evaluation of the neighbourhoods and the populations residing in them. It was carried on a sample of residents of Dijon’s urban area, a French city (N = 99) divided into four groups, according to the geographical location (in the city / in the suburbs) and the social status (wealthy / disadvantaged) of their living space.
